E-Waste Day is an annual awareness campaign initiated by the WEEE Forum and held every year on October 14. Its aim is to highlight the growing issue of waste from electrical and electronic equipment and promote responsible management of these types of waste.
This year’s edition focuses on hoarding, the tendency to accumulate unused electronic devices.
Ecotrel is part of the WEEE Forum, a European association bringing together organizations like ours. On the occasion of E-Waste Day, each member is encouraged to organize awareness campaigns. That’s what we did on Saturday, October 12th, with the main message urging the public to dispose of unused devices so they can be recycled. According to a recent study by the European Commission, there are nearly 700 million unused mobile phones in Europe, sitting in drawers! These represent valuable resources that could be reused.
